  • 62% of businesses use YouTube.
  • 9% of small businesses are on YouTube.
  • 75% of adults turn to YouTube for nostalgia rather than tutorials or current events.
  • Millennials prefer YouTube two to one over traditional television.
  • 1 billion hours of YouTube content is watched per day.

Meaning that if you aren’t using a YouTube channel as any business you are missing out on an entire way of communicating to your new or current customer base. Just having video alone will allow you to stand out in your marketplace.

Here are features that you’ll want to do to your YouTube channel to ensure that your channel is optimized properly for more interaction and viewership.

Utilize the Cards Feature

YouTube cards are the solution for driving actionable results from your video content. YouTube cards are interactive and can act as clickable CTAs that take viewers to another video, channel, or site.

You can add five different types of YouTube cards to your videos:

  • Video or playlist: Promote your video content.
  • Channel: Promote another channel.
  • Donation: Feature a non-profit or cause of your choice and encourage donations.
  • Poll: Encourage viewers to engage in a multiple-choice poll.
  • Link: Link to an approved website off of YouTube.

You can add up to five cards in one video. Utilizing the cards feature is extremely important to get more viewership and interaction traffic to YouTube website from your videos.

Verify your YouTube Channel

A verified YouTube channel will have a verification badge in the form of a checked box to the right of the brand’s name.

Log in to YouTube and click your channel icon in the top right. This brings up the Creator Studio and YouTube settings pull-down menu.

Another way to check if your account is verified is by going into your YouTube settings. Click on Channel Settings, then click on Status and Features, and you will be able to see your account status. If your account is verified, you will see a bolded “Verified” next to your brand’s name.

If you don’t see a verification badge on your YouTube account, or your Account status is not showing as “Verified” in your Channel Settings, there are a few steps you can take.

  • Note: YouTube has updated its verification process since we originally posted this.
  • To get a verification badge today, you must meet YouTube’s eligibility criteria of 100,000 subscribers. Once your channel has 100,000 or more subscribers, you can submit a request for a verification badge to YouTube.

Tell viewers to Subscribe
